Nature of Surf Women
An interactive photo & audio journey with surfers in Costa Rica
Nature of Surf Women is a technology-enhanced photography book that combines traditional visual storytelling with the sounds of the ocean, songs, and audio interviews to offer a window into the lives of female surfers.
We have partnered with two extraordinary creators—legendary audio naturalist Martyn Stewart and ex-pro surfer and holistic surf coach Holly Beck—to create the right atmosphere for your journey with the women surfers captured in the book.
The book consists of 22 stories of individual journeys, best friends adventuring together, family challenges, finding surf buddies, and mother-daughter bonding. Each story has a QR code that links to a two-minute profile, some with songs written and performed by the surfer, and sounds of the ocean and jungle of Costa Rica. Full interviews with surfers at the end of the book will take the audience onto the waves and into the lives and hearts of these extraordinary women.
The book's epilogue, written by environmental activist Katherine Terrell, will be dedicated totoday's most challenging problems in coastal towns all over the world.
This is not a book you will flip through and leave on the shelf. Every page has a story to tell, and every story is connected to a library of sounds for your mindful journey.
